I was talking to my friend in a phone call last night and our topic goes to my blog. I told her that I am thinking what could be my next blog article and she said why not write tips about laptop? She told me that her laptop was lagging specially when connecting to internet. I can feel her problem. When I was in college, I studied how to reformat and fix laptop because my laptop was lagging too.

Computer becomes part of our daily life specially for students and office employee. Every time our computer slows down, it affects our work and our customer service. Computers helps our life and work become more efficient but it needs maintenance too. Without proper maintenance for it’s hardware and software it will soon degrade it’s performance and slows down. In this article, I will share to you 5 best practices to speed up your computer again.

1. Always update your Software.

When I say update your software, it means you upgrade your computer operating system (OS) from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It is very important. Computer companies like Windows are doing their best to improve their product and an upgrade of software means a better performance. I know your too lazy to wait and update your OS; however, you can do it overnight, just make sure charger is plug in and your computer is connected to internet. It will save you a lot of emotions every time your laptop hangs and lag. Just do it.

2. Back-up your movies and old files.

To those who always stored their movies and files in their laptop, I am sorry guys that’s the very reason why your laptop starts so long. I have a friend whose laptop takes 30min to starts. That’s depressing. Your laptop needs to load those files before it can starts, the bigger the file you stored, the longer before it will start. So, what can you do? You need to separate your movies and old files to an external hard drive. It will cost you P3000 -P5000, but this external drive with proper handling, can last a lifetime. Do not stress yourself, invest on it.

3. Install Anti-Virus.

You might think adding an application will slows down your computer more because your adding another process. You are partly correct. Let me tell you the reason. When you download free movies and videos online, once you click that download button, you might also installing malicious software that slave your computer. Hackers secretly install malware to your computer and make it their slave computer. While you are online, hackers can use your computer to destroy website or services. The right term is Distributed Denial Of Service (DDOS) attacked. That’s too technical. But the idea is another person might using your computer while your using it, and that’s the reason why its slows down. You can avoid this and defends yourself from hackers if you install anti-virus. Install it for your online safety.

4. Reformat your laptop when lagging often occurs.

In my opinion, reformat your laptop once a year if your using it every day. Reformatting sometimes, is the best solution when it slows down and infected by internet virus. Some virus cannot be deleted by anti-virus so, the best way is to completely wipe everything and install a new OS. Reformatting may range from P500 – P2500 however, be aware of pirated OS, fake OS will be detected soon by your computer and you will need to reformat it again. Better install the original OS, it will save you some peso fella.

5.Uninstall unimportant applications.

Many of us were guilty of this. When we have a hobby, anything digital, we often install a lot of application. As time passed by, we added another application again without uninstalling the old application. As a result, we have a lot of application in our computer, and it occupies space in our hard drive which slows down your computer start-up. Now, scan all the application of your computer and uninstall those unimportant application.
